Winter signals the start of the flu season. And during this time of year, parents are busy tending to their sick kids. Knowing this, it is very important that you impart some knowledge to your kids on how to prevent getting sick during the long winter break. While there are now flu and cold medications that can be easily bought from local US drug pharmacies and Canadian prescriptions drugs stores, preventing the kids from getting sick in the first place will definitely save you a lot of headaches.
Remember kids are more prone to catching the cold or flu virus compared to adults because of their frail body. With that said, parents can prevent their kids from getting sick by teaching them the following:
- Explain to your children how the virus is transferred from one person to the other. While children may not be old enough to understand how the spread of germs works. To avoid the spread of virus, always remind your kids to wash their hands before and after each meal. Also, they need to clean their hands after touching a dirty object, blowing their nose, and playing with their toys. Teach your kids the proper way of washing their hands to prevent the spread of diseases.
- Promote healthy habits. Boosting your child’s immune health will help to keep them healthy. To do this, it is smart to encourage your kids to follow healthy habits. During the flu season, you should try to increase your child’s Vitamin C intake. Also, tell your child that they have to get enough sleep so the body can properly recuperate. Feeding your child with a balanced meal is also vital to maintaining good health. Furthermore you have to encourage your kids to eat more vegetables and fruits.
